News : Ubisoft Cuts Sales Projections In Half For Red Steel 2 News

Ubisoft has set low sales expectations for its MotionPlus infused Wii game, Red Steel 2, by stating that initial expectations of 1 million sales for the title have now been cut in half to a meagre 500,000 units as the game prepares for launch in March.

During a financial conference call earlier this week, Ubisoft's CEO, Yves Guillemot fielded a question on Avatar sales and expectations for Red Steel 2 with the following response: "For Avatar we said 2.5 million units and our expectations were more in the 3.5-4 million [region]. On Red Steel we decided, in our expectations, to divide the quantity by two and previously we had around a million."

Despite the fact that these sales expectations are low, they aren't necessarily representative of Red Steel 2's quality. Ubisoft may simply be accounting for the poor performance of other core titles on the Wii (e.g. MadWorld, The Conduit, and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles), as well as a 50% drop-off in Ubisoft's own casual market during the current financial year.

News : NCsoft Names New Producer for Aion

NCsoft announced this evening that they have named a new producer for Aion. Chris "Kinslon" Hager left his Associate Producer position to make the step up to Aion Producer. Kinslon has been with NCsoft since the fall of 2005, working on Guild Wars and Lineage II as well as Aion.

Andrew "Tamat" Beegle welcomes Kinslon: "We're all very excited to follow our new Producer forward. His intricate knowledge of Aion and deep history with the game and NCsoft are invaluable as we move forward. Needless to say, there is plenty to be excited about that we have yet to announce."

The team at Aion has spoken very often about changes and new content coming in 2010, and this is presumably the first of many to come. Along with the rest of the Community team, as well as the fans, we wish Kinslon the best of luck in his new position.

News : Assassin's Creed II : Master Assassin's Edition PS3 unboxed (photos)

Ubisoft today released the next Assassin's Creed adventure, Assassin's Creed II. Things are much bigger this time around, literally. A limited edition was created for sale at GameStop. See a slideshow here or thumbnail gallery here of the Master Assassin's Edition. You'll see the tin case is much larger than the original Assassin's Creed Limited Edition (see more pictures of the original's Limited Edition here), and a comparison shot to the PS3 controller so you can get an idea how big the package is.

The Assassin's Creed II: Master Assassin's Edition GameStop Exclusive comes with:

- Assassin's Creed II game, manual, game box

- 8.5 inch Collectable Ezio Statue

- Artbook: The Art of Assassins Creed

News : Sega: PS3 Bayonetta load times will be fixed

Sega is well aware of the of the long loading times that plagues the PS3 version of Bayonetta, and are looking into a the best possible way to fix the problem before the North American version of the game is released.

An inquiry made over at the official Platinum Games boards received a response from Sega that "they were well aware of this issue and are working on a solution."

Another Sega representative made Sega's stance even clearer:

"I can, in fact speak on their behalf in saying that a patch to correct this is under consideration through development to address the matter of the overwhelming load times with Bayonetta," the rep said.

"Something I cannot address directly is when this will occur however I will be tracking this directly on all sides (the Japanese, North American and European versions) as to ensure that we know exactly the status of each one.

"Provided that I'm given full disclosure on this, I will be sure to keep you posted on what to expect."

It's nice to see that Sega is very much concerned about the situation. PS3 fans can now rest easy.
