What are Shards?

Shards are Gamers Evolution's currency. You can earn Shards by good posting, participating in events, and generally being helpful. Shards can then be spent in the SHOP.

How do I earn Shards?

Making Topics: Each topic that is made is awarded 2.5 Shards automatically. Note that if your topic is spam, or unsuitable, then you will lose the Shards you earned and more.
Topics of the Week : Some forums provide Shards for outstanding topics, also known as the topic of the week.
Reporting Problems in the Bannings & Warnings Thread: We award 40 Shards for a valid problem reported, as long as no one else has reported it first. A link must be provided, and we must not be aware of it already.
Assistant, moderator, and admin work: All active assistants, moderators and admins receive 450 Shards every three months. Next handout will be end of Sep.
Donating to GE : For every 9$ (five pounds) you donate to helping to run GE's server, we will give you 5,000 Shards to show our appreciation.

Earning Shards in ClanNation (coming soon)

Please note that all Shards a clan earns will go to the user account (which will bear the clan’s name as its user name). These accounts serve as a clan’s bank account so to speak, and it is up to the clan leader to determine how those funds will be used.

1. Participating in the ClanNation Tournaments (prizes for the top three clans) : Extra Shards will occasionally be handed out to individuals, depending on the challenge (example: in a graphics challenge, the person(s) who does the actual graphic will earn extra).
2. Participating in other ClanNation events : ClanNation members who participate in an event will earn Shards.
3. Forming a clan : All new clans will earn 2500 Shards.

Earning Shards in Welcomes.

Shards for bringing along newcomers.

Click here to read the announcement in Welcomes/Goodbyes about bringing along newcomers, and referring people to Gamers Evolution earns you Shard.

If the person you brought posts in Welcomes/Goodbyes, and this is reported you get 100 Shard.
If they make at least 50 posts, you’ll get another 350 Shard.
If they then have over 100 posts, you’ll get another 500 Shard on top of what you've already received.

Befriending a Newbie

If you befriend a newbie, and that newbie reports it, you get 50 Shard! All reports must be done in this topic here .

Earning Shard in GFX/Art/Fiction.

Shard for activities/voting in GFX/Art/Fiction battles

Read the rule threads in both the Inkpot and GFX/Art forums within that section to find out more on this. Basically:

Slaughter Win gives 300 Shard.
Normal Win gives 100 Shard.
Normal Loss gives 50 Shard.
Valid vote gives 10 Shard.

So even voting in battles will give you Shard!

Earning Shard in CityScape

1. Threads
Everyone knows when you start a new topic you get Shard but now when the topic has reached forty pages without needing to be locked by a moderator for rule breaking then you also gain more Shard for a thread well done. For party threads the page limit is twenty five pages before being locked.

Shard: 300 to the thread owner when their thread reaches forty pages.

2. Winning or Participating in CityScape Events
Every once in a while CityScape will have tournaments or organised events and competitions made by the moderators. Generally Shard are given out to the winners and sometimes even just for coming along and participating in the event.

Shard: varied depending on what the event involves. Around 25 Shard for just participating and up to about 600 or so for winning an event.

3. Helping CityScape Moderators
For helping a moderator in a task like a tournament or something then you may receive Shard as thanks. This may include pointing out rule breakers in a thread also.

Shard: varied but nothing over 100 Shard for each time unless it was a lot of work on a tournament or event.

4. Roleplayer of the Month Award
Winning the roleplayer of the month award not only gains you recognition for your writing but also earns you a reward of Shard.

Shard: 600

Special events/tournaments.

You can gain Shard for participating in special events, if it's stated so in the topic. Usually special events are announced in specific forums. If you are unsure if the event is handing out Shard, then ask in the thread.

Earning Shard on the Arcade

Getting a top score on the arcade.

If at the end of every three months you find that you hold a top score for an arcade game (here) you are awarded a 1000 Shard bonus. The scores are then reset at the end of the three month period. The next three month period commences December 1st, 2006.
