The defeat of the Covenant in the first Halo game was only a temporary victory, as the alien attackers have renewed their mission to wipe out all of humanity. Despite the human military force's and Master Chief's efforts, the Covenant have breeched the Earth's defenses and have left its inhabitants in a dismal situation. In the midst of desperation, players assume the role of Master Chief and lead the resistance against the Covenant to save the people of Earth from a gruesome demise.
The long-awaited PC version of Bungie's FPS, Halo 2 offers the full single-player campaign and multiplayer maps of the original Xbox version, with the addition of the content in the Multiplayer Map Pack as well as a tool for building and customizing levels. The game requires Windows Vista , this WONT work on Windows XP.
Release Info:
Not sure what group released this, but I know it works. Multiple people have tested it. I pulled it from the torrent sites. Included are the image files that you can mount with daemon tools. There isn't a crack out at this point, so you may only be able to play for a certain amount of time. Just keep this in mind. There should be a crack out within a few days, though, so don't worry.
Installation Instructions:
1) Extract the archive.
2) Insert the Halo 2 DVD
3) Run Startup.exe on the Halo 2 DVD using the included Loader.exe Ie.: Loader.exe D:\Startup.exe
4) Install the game.
5) Install XLiveRedist1.0.6027.msi and vcredist.msi from the \redists dir on the Halo 2 DVD.
6) Copy the following files into the directory you installed Halo 2:
dwmapi.dll, mf.dll, MFPlat.dll
7) Finished. To play the game, run halo2.exe using the included Loader.exe Ie.: Loader.exe "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe"
Notes:
You need to be logged in with an administrator account for Loader.exe to work, since it uses privileged API's. Currently the code for playing the intro and credits movies is unimplemented, so if you want to see them you'll have to play them yourself (they're located in \movie). I haven't tested the online functionality of the game, it will probably need more attention.
Copy mf.dll from NoGrp (xp patch) into \\WINDOWS\\System32 and copy mf.dll from Razor1911 into your game directory.
For those having problems with activation after first level in XP.
I've used Halo_2_Repack-Razor1911 for the installation.
Performance goes up 30% with XP. Graphics detail high! Everything loads faster too!
